For women in Portland needing a subtle yet rejuvenating lift, the circumareolar breast lift (mastopexy) is a wonderful choice. If you’re looking for a procedure that involves a minor repositioning of the areola and gentle tightening of the central breast skin, this technique—also known as a Benelli or donut mastopexy—may be ideal. While it’s most commonly performed alongside breast augmentation, Esprit® Cosmetic Surgeons also offers this lift for women with mild breast sagging, helping you reclaim a youthful, perky appearance.

We Are Here To Help

The best way to get your questions answered is to come in for an appointment.

Circumareolar breast lift

This example of a circumareolar breast lift shows the circular pattern of skin that is removed around the areolas. The skin is then tightened around the areolas like a “purse string” and the breasts are lifted, and the areolas are repositioned in a higher location.

Circumareolar Breast Lift Technique

In this procedure, we first reduce the areola to about 1.5 inches in diameter. Next, the outer layer of extra skin is carefully trimmed away. The remaining skin is closed in a purse-string fashion to lift the breast and elevate the areola—all while preserving the natural contour. Dr. Connall’s refined technique ensures every stitch is placed with precision, resulting in a beautiful and natural-looking outcome.

Immediately after surgery, you may notice that the skin around your areola appears slightly puckered and bruised. This is a normal part of the healing process. Over the weeks that follow, the skin softens, the puckering resolves, and your breast settles into a smooth, youthful shape.

Circumareolar Breast Lift Precautions

While some temporary puckering is expected as your skin heals, in most cases the result is very pleasing. In rare instances, the degree of puckering or scar appearance might require a touch-up, but our extensive experience helps us minimize these outcomes. Overall, many of our patients enjoy the superb lift and natural look achieved with this technique.

Circumareolar soon after

This drawing shows a circumareolar breast lift. For the first few weeks after surgery, the skin is very puckered around the areolas.

Breast settles into a soft natural appearance

After fully healed, the puckering around the areola resolves, and the skin loosens, and the breast settles into a soft, natural appearance.
